Spring has sprung! Well, sort of, if you live here in Northwest PA. Nothing says spring like a little spring cleaning. When we think spring cleaning, we think about our houses. We are reminded of all those house projects we’ve put off, those cabinets and drawers we’ve neglected, and those spaces in which we’ve let junk build up. What we don’t think about is the most important home of all, our bodies! If we don’t take care of this sacred structure, how are we to take care of all those other projects? It all begins with our skin. What we put on our bodies, we are putting in our bodies. Our skin is our largest organ and it holds everything in it. It’s also our coat. It does its best to protect us, so we should protect it.
After this cold winter, I know my skin is ready for some TLC. That means no more skin products filled with synthetic ingredients. Why? Synthetic ingredients, such as parabens, don’t just stay on the surface of our skin. They are found in our body just hours after applied. These preservatives imitate certain hormones, which then confuse our bodies, resulting in a hormonal imbalance. This can lead to an increased chance of developing certain forms of cancer. There’s a ton of products out there that contain scary ingredients that have scary side effects. That’s why I prefer only using the best on my body. After all, we deserve it. At Good Nature, we have all the products your skin will need to thrive. And the best part is they are safe! No parabens, no phthalates, and no synthetic colors. Your skin will be soaking up these pure ingredients and loving it.
So how do you treat your body better? Well, treat your skin better. You can do that with establishing a good skin care routine. The most important rule to good skin care is removing your makeup every night! If you’re anything like me, this is probably the hardest rule to follow. I know I’m not the only woman out there that feels this way, but Good Nature’s makeup remover makes it so easy. I guarantee you; you won’t be standing In front of the mirror scrubbing your eyes until they’re dry and red. With one swipe, that stubborn waterproof mascara will come off. This smooth, creamy balm is made up of butters that are full of antioxidants, which reduce skin damage. Blueberry butter doesn’t just smell delicious, but has the ability to penetrate the skin and hydrate it. Pumpkin butter has amazing anti-aging benefits. My favorite thing about this makeup remover is that it doubles as an eye cream. And who doesn’t like a two in one combo?
I highly recommend using a cleanser at night, whether you wear makeup or not. Over the course of a day, your skin builds up oils and grime, creating clogged pores. Good Natures activated charcoal bar soap is good for all skin types, but is especially great for acne. Activated charcoal is an antibacterial and antifungal. It was even once used in wooden barrels to purify drinking water. This power house of an ingredient stops bacteria in clogged pores from growing. It also has absorbing properties, binding to toxins in your skin and bringing them to the surface.
Now, let’s talk about toners. You’ve heard of them, but are they really necessary? My answer is yes. Our skin has a natural pH balance of between five and six, which is pretty acidic. Although cleansing with soap is critical, it can change the ph of your skin, making it less acidic. A good face toner will restore your skins ph balance, while also protecting from bacteria and dryness. Good Natures face toner contains an organic water infusion of rose water, hops flowers, calendula and lavender. Roses look and smell pleasing, but they feel even more pleasing on the skin. Rose water has anti-inflammatory properties that can reduce redness, get rid of acne, dermatitis and eczema.
If you’re looking for a product to help with wrinkles and fine lines, or maybe a boost in moisture, face serum is the way to go. At Good Nature you can find a face serum that’s packed with essential oils that have anti-aging benefits and regenerate healthy skin cells. Frankincense used in their serum, reduces the size of pores and tightens the skin. The avocado oil is great for moisturizing. Jojoba oil, also found in the face serum contains vitamin B and E, which soothes dry skin and aids in skin repair. This has been my favorite product throughout the winter months. It’s helped tremendously with dryness without causing my skin to become oily.
Last but definitely not least, a face moisturizer is crucial. Not using a moisturizer will speed up your skins aging process and make wrinkles that you already have look even more prominent. If you suffer from acne, a moisturizer should be your best friend. You wouldn’t think it, but dryness makes acne worse. Good Nature makes five different moisturizers for each skin type because they know how important it is to use the right moisturizer. There’s a moisturizer for dry, oily, normal, acne, and mature skin. All types contain natural and yummy ingredients that will make your skin happy.
This spring, I challenge you to not just think about your houses, but to also think about your bodies. It’s easy to see the junk in the closet, but not so much the junk you are putting on your face. Be mindful of what’s going in your body. Spring time is about renewing and improving. Join me in taking this step to nourish and care for our bodies the way they deserve.
